Diabetes Pilot for Palm Alternate Download Instrtuctions

Use these instructions to install Diabetes Pilot on your Palm handheld if you're using a Mac or other non-Windows computer to connect to your handheld, or if you'd prefer to install the files manually.

By downloading or using Diabetes Pilot, you are indicating that you agree to the terms of the software license agreement. If you do not agree with the license agreement, you may not download or use the program.

Step Two: Download the program to your computer

The full program consists of two files: the program file (DiabetesPilot.prc) and the food database (DiabetesPilotFoods.pdb). You'll need to install both files:

  1. Download the program by right-clicking (with the right mouse button) on the link below. Choose "Save as" from the pop-up menu. If you're using a web browser other than Internet Explorer, just click on the link and choose "save" (or a similar option) when prompted.
  2. You will be prompted for a location to save the files to. Select a location and click "OK". You may wish to save the files in your "My Documents" folder. Remember where you saved the files.
  3. Repeat the steps above to download the food database.

Step Three: Add the program to your handheld using the install tool

  1. Open the Palm Install tool. (This is usually located on your computer in the Start Menu, under "Programs", then under "Palm Desktop".) On a Mac, choose "Install Handheld Files" from the "HotSync" menu.
  2. In the Palm Install Tool, click on "Add..." You will be prompted for a file. Locate the program file that you just downloaded and select it. Click "Open" or "Add File". (If you have a choice of installing to the main memory or an expansion card, install the program to the main memory.) Make sure that the correct user name (device name) is selected in the install tool window.
  3. Repeat the above step for the food database file. (Again, if you have a choice of installing to the main memory or an expansion card, install the file to the main memory.)
  4. Close the Install Tool by clicking "Done".

Step Four: Run a HotSync to install the program on your handheld

Place your handheld in it's cradle and press the HotSync button on the cradle. Be patient while the program and the food database installs. Depending on your particular configuration, the transfer of the food database may take up to 15 minutes.

 

If you've purchased Diabetes Pilot for Palm, enter your registration code when prompted by the program.  Your code is provided to you when you make your purchase - on the screen, via email, or on a label in the CD-ROM package.   Entering your code unlocks the trial software and turns it into the purchased version.

If you have not purchased Diabetes Pilot for Palm, Diabetes Pilot will operate as a fully-functional free trial for 15 days. After the trial period, you will need to register the software to keep using it.
