New Features
This release adds many new features:
- New reporting system in the Desktop software. Reports
are faster, better, and more comprehensive. Several new reports have
been
added.
For a
list of the new reports, refer to
the instructions.
- New nutrition information. Now, you can track sodium,
cholesterol, saturated fat, sugars, and calories from fat in addition
to the standard nutrients that were previously available.
- New food database. The update includes a new food
database with thousands of new foods, improved organization, and a
greater emphasis on commonly eaten foods and meals. The update will
retain
any custom
foods that you've previously entered.
- Save frequently used meals. Save meals that you
frequently eat and quickly recall them for later entry. This feature
was previously available in handheld version of Diabetes Pilot and
is now available in the desktop version as well.
- New meal reporting.
The handheld versions now include a meal total report, so
you can track your calorie, carb, and other nutrition totals for
a single day or any range of days that you specify. The Desktop software
continues to include a variety of detailed meal reporting options.
- Blood pressure tracking. Diabetes Pilot now provides
dedicated records and reporting for your blood pressure readings.
- Integration with the latest Palm and Pocket PC handhelds.
Diabetes Pilot Desktop can now exchange data with handheld versions
of Diabetes Pilot running on the latest Windows Mobile 5.0
Pocket PC devices as well as older Palm and Pocket PC handhelds.
- Faster data transfer with Pocket PC handhelds. Data
transfer between the Desktop and Pocket PC version of Diabetes
Pilot is significantly faster than in previous versions.
- New insulin calculation options in the Palm and Pocket PC
software. The insulin calculation feature now provides options
for accounting for protein and fiber.
- Data import and export. Import your own food information
into the program using standard CSV files. Export your custom food
data
to share with your friends. Import glucose readings and other types
of record data from CSV files.
- Faster data entry. The Palm software now remembers
the time, date, and category when you're entering multiple records
together. This greatly speeds up recording multiple types
of data at once. If you're using the insulin calculation feature, medication
entries are prefilled with the most recent insulin calculation value,
saving even more time.
- Numerous other improvements. A number of other minor
changes make the new software more usable, faster, and more reliable
than ever.
Installation
- Make a backup of your current data. We strongly recommend
making a backup of your current Diabetes Pilot data files on both your
desktop
computer
(if
you're
using Diabetes Pilot Desktop) and/or your Palm or Pocket PC handheld
(if you're using a handheld version of Diabetes Pilot).

- Read these important notes:
- When you upgrade,
your data files will be updated to a new format. If you decide
not to use the upgrade, you'll need the backup to restore your
data in
the old version.
- This update contains a new food database.
When you apply the update, your previously customized foods
will be
retained.
However, because the new database has a new structure
and the ability to add new nutrition information, your old customized
foods will be regrouped into a single "My Custom Foods" group.
After the
update, you
can
then
work from this group to add new nutrition information
and reorganize the
foods
however you'd like using either the handheld or desktop software.
- If you were previously using the insulin calculation feature, make
a note of your settings - they'll need to be reentered in the new version.
- Choose what you'd like to install:
- Option 1: If you're currently using
Diabetes Pilot Desktop (with or without a handheld version of Diabetes

otherwise
unable to use
or not
interested in using the Desktop software.

itself, you can, optionally, skip the steps below and click
here to jump instructions on installing just the Pocket PC software. Choose
this option only if you are not using and not
interested in using the Desktop software.
